Youth Community Conversation
We want to hear your voice! 📢
Suicide is a major issue among teens and young adults in Alaska and Fairbanks Wellness Coalition is holding a Community Conversation to discuss the impacts of suicide on our youth.
📅 When: Wednesday, Feb 18th starting at 5pm
📍 Where: Carlson Center's Buswell Room
2010 2nd Ave, Fairbanks, AK 99701
The aim of this Community Conversation is to bring members of the community together to learn more about the impact of suicide on teens and young adults. We'll start with breakout sessions to discuss the overall issue, before hearing from a panel of peers and subject matter experts. Our intent is to use this qualitative data to inform our suicide prevention work in the future, and to share that data with the public.
Free food and resources will be provided, along with the chance to win a door prize!

Mental Health Safety Planning Workshop
Do you know how to prevent a mental health crisis? Does your family have a plan in place if a family member experiences one?
Just like fire and earthquake safety, it's important to have a plan in place in case of a mental health emergency. A Mental Health Safety Plan is a personalized, actionable plan designed to keep you and your loved ones safe.
During the workshop, FWC staff will help you identify warning signs, coping strategies, sources of support, and preferred methods of communication. You'll leave with a step-by-step instruction sheet for you or your support network to access in case of emergency. Planning in advance can help prevent a crisis later on.
Join us on Tuesday Septemeber 30th (the last day of Suicide Prevention Month!) to create your own Safety Plan.
