The Fairbanks Wellness Coalition is happy to announce its fourth annual Resiliency Conference. The theme this year is Community Connection: Braided for Strength. Monday’s full day agenda includes presentations on self-care, vicarious trauma, and substance use disorders including a panel discussion. Tuesday’s evening agenda will focus on holistic health including Trauma Sensitive Yoga and an isolation discussion. Wednesday’s evening agenda focuses on food insecurity and includes healthy cooking on a budget idea with a meal to conclude the conference.

Our keynote speaker Steve Sawyer is the co-founder of New Vision Wilderness Therapy which pioneered the NVW Trauma Responsive wilderness therapy model. Steve is now the founder of First Light Wilderness Therapy following the same NVW model. Steve will be discussing Pe’ta (Fire): Igniting Resilience in Challenging Times. In his own words, “This presentation takes a close look at currently challenging times and how the human collective stress response is affecting us. We will examine fascinating human stress research that shows collective stress responses as well as our ability to sooth and calm each other. We will examine both sides of the collective story, stress response spreading negatively or conversely positively through our human connection. The presentation focuses in on resilience taking a dive into participants uncovering their resilience factors that surround them or are hiding within them.”

We look forward to seeing you. Please note that you will need to register for each day separately.
